AFL Live Carlton Blues vs Port Adelaide Power Stream AFL Football 2016 Online, AFL Round 08 Match will be kick off at The Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Sunday 15 May 2016 online, 13.10 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Carlton are on an unexpected winning run, taking on a Port that has strung together two good wins of their own.
Many people would have predicted Carlton to win three games for the season, so three in a row by Round 7 has been an exceptional achievement for Brendon Bolton and his players. The Blues are playing with spirit and system after too often lacking both in recent years.
Port have gotten their season back on track with two wins in a row after struggling for form in the early stages. They turned it on after quarter time against Brisbane last week, and went in for the kill in the last term, giving them important momentum into this week.
Carlton have a 7-3 record in their last ten matches against Port, but the Power won the last match between the two at Etihad Stadium, in 2014.
The Blues have covered the line four matches in a row. They are -17% POT at Etihad since the start of 2013, but 63% ATS. Against non-Victorian sides there in this time, they are 1% POT and 60% ATS.
Under Ken Hinkley, Port are +102% POT and 40% ATS at Etihad, with an overall interstate record of +18% POT, 56% ATS and 42% at the under. In all trips to Victoria, they are +63% POT, 56% ATS and 28% at the under.
Are Port really “back”, or have they caught two weak opponents, in Richmond and Brisbane, at the right time? Their only other wins have been against St Kilda and Essendon. Carlton is playing better than at least three of those four sides, but haven’t beaten any side of note either.
The Power are one of the least structured sides in the competition, and the Blues are one of the most, so this will be an interesting contrast as each side seeks to maintain momentum. Carlton’s best players are in good form, which can carry them a long way, but Port has more avenues to goal.
This is a tough game to split, and the odds are further apart than they should be.
