Australian Football League Live Geelong Cats vs Brisbane Lions Stream AFL 2016 Seasons Week 03 math will be kick off at Simonds Stadium, Geelong, Victoria, Australia, Sunday 10 April 2016 online, 04.40 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
The anti-match of the round. Geelong shouldn’t have any trouble against an undermanned Brisbane.
Geelong loses Jordan Murdoch to general soreness, which opens the door for the Cats to debut rookie listed Tom Ruggles. Daniel Menzel should return as well, which spells danger for Shane Kersten.
Brisbane loses their captain Tom Rockliff, and Daniel Rich is under an injury cloud too. Mitch Robinson, one of the Lions best and fairest winners last year, returns, which is some respite, but they just can’t get anywhere near their best side on the ground at the same time.
Geelong were so pleased with taking Hawthorn down in Round 1 that they took Round 2 off against GWS. They were sloppy in the first quarter against the Giants, and then went into sleep mode for the second and third terms. By the time they woke up, it was too late.
Brisbane have been bright and energetic in their opening two games, but just don’t have the depth of talent or skill to match the likes of West Coast or North, top four teams from 2015.
Geelong has won the last four matches between these sides, and eight of the last nine. Four of those wins have been at Simonds Stadium, and the last two, while Brisbane has been under Justin Leppitsch, have been by 56 and 62 points.
Tom Hawkins has kicked more goals against Brisbane than any other club. His personal best haul in a game is 7, which was against the Lions, and he also has a bag of 6 against them in his career too.
Geelong won’t have to play well to win, but Chris Scott will want to see them get back into good habits after bringing out all their bad ones last week. If Brisbane play the way they have over the first two rounds, the game should be a free-flowing contest with plenty of attacking play. The Lions will be missing their two best players (Beams and Rockliff), while the Cats best two (Dangerfield and Selwood) will be looking to atone for last week.
