Australian Football League Live Port Adelaide Power vs Carlton Blues Stream AFL 2017 Seasons Week 05 match will be kickoff at Adelaide Oval Stadium, North Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, Friday 21 April 2017 online, 19:50 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Port Adelaide and Carlton feature in the first match of AFL Round 5 when they square off at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night, April 21.
After some promising early season form it is the Power that head in as strong favourites, but it won’t be easy against the Blues, who can surprise on their day.
First bounce is at 7.50PM AEST or 7.20PM ACST and the action will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox Footy. AFL Live Vision is also available to ALL CrownBet members. Every Match, wherever you are.
Port Adelaide won their first two games of the season before running into a rampant Adelaide outfit in Round 3 and GWS in Round 4. They stuck with the Giants for three quarters before eventually being rolled by 31 points.
Carlton sit with a win-loss record of 1-3. Their victory came against Essendon in wet conditions at the MCG in Round 3, while last weekend they were knocked over by Gold Coast to the tune of 26 points at Etihad Stadium.
Were it not for a poor third term, the Blues may have finished a lot closer last weekend. Their coach, Brendan Bolton, will be urging his troops not to keep the foot on the pedal on Friday, while he will also need his side to capitalise on their opportunities, something they didn’t do against the Suns.
However, the task at hand may be hard for Bolton and his players, given the form that the Power is in. Port have been close in their last two hitouts against the top two premiership fancies and at their last encounter at the Adelaide Oval against an interstate side, they destroyed Fremantle by 89 points.
Look for the likes of Ollie Wines, Travis Boak and Robbie Gray to have big games. That trio were relatively quiet against the Giants, particularly late in the game and should appreciate lining up against a Carlton outfit that doesn’t quite bat as deep as the Giants midfield group.
Key players for the Blues include Marc Murphy, Patrick Cripps and Bryce Gibbs, who should at least break even in the middle. The visitors will also apply a solid defensive press but concerns continue up forward, where they have averaged just 73 points per game this year.
