Australian Football League Live Port Adelaide Power vs Essendon Bombers Stream AFL 2016 Seasons Week 03 math will be kick off at Adelaide Oval Stadium, South Australia, Australia, Friday 08 April 2016 online, 07.50 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
AFL Round 3 opens up with the Friday night encounter between Port Adelaide and Essendon and after being thumped in Round 2 by their cross-town rivals, Adelaide, the Power will be looking to get back on to the winners list.
However, it won’t be an easy assignment for Port, who head into this as unbackable $1.07 favourites. The Bombers come off a morale-boosting win against Melbourne and will be no pushovers.
The action between the two sides gets underway at 7.50PM AEST or 7.20PM local time and will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox Footy. AFL Live Vision is also available to ALL CrownBet members. Every Match, wherever you are.
Both sides have won one of their two games so far and sit in 12th and 13th spot on the AFL ladder.
Port Adelaide won an entertaining Round 1 clash against St Kilda by 33 points, but were then thumped to the tune of 58 points by Adelaide last weekend.
Essendon dropped their Round 1 clash to the Gold Coast by 61 points, before an against the odds triumph over Melbourne by 13 points.
The Bombers made a stand against the Demons and it was some of the efforts of their younger players that stood out. Zach and Jackson Merrett got plenty of it, as did the top draft pick, Darcy Parish, while Joe Daniher was lively up forward and booted two goals.
Port Adelaide need to improve their defence if they are to notch up what many consider to be a very gettable win. The Power have conceded 244 points in their two games this year the second most of any side in the competition and struggled to contain the Crows on the rebound last week.
While they are the competition’s best at winning the contested football, they are the worst with their ball use and this is another area they will need to tighten up.
The Bombers have impressed with their ball use in their two games to date and the Dons are number 2 in the competition for efficiency, but without their suspended stars, they have struggled to win the clearances.
The Dons will again need big games from their young midfielders and will also be hoping Joe Daniher can continue on from where he left off last weekend. The tall forward was a focal point last weekend and if he can kick a little straighter in front of goal, his side will be in with a winning chance.
Port Adelaide have matchwinners in Robbie Gray and Chad Wingard but will need a number of other players to step it up, including Matthew Lobbe and their recruit, Charlie Dixon, who were both well down on output last week.
Essendon have a great recent record against Port Adelaide and have won five of the past six games between the two sides. They have played once at the Adelaide Oval and on that occasion it was a thrilling two point win for the red and black in Round 16 of 2014.
The last game between the two was in Round 17 last year at Etihad Stadium and in a high scoring game, the Power prevailed by 13 points. Chad Wingard and Paddy Ryder were the stars for the Power. The former Bomber, Ryder, will be unavailable for his side this weekend.
Despite the massive discrepancy in betting it could be a very interesting night. Port Adelaide have hardly produced anything to give their fans some confidence and if the Bombers deliver what they produced against Melbourne last weekend, this game could go right down to the wire.
