Australian Football League Live Carlton vs Geelong Cats Stream AFL 2016 Seasons Week 10 match will be kick off at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Sunday 29 May 2016 online, 13.10 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Geelong will be looking to bounce back from disappointment hard against a feisty Blues line-up.
Carlton made the most of a run of four winnable games against Fremantle, Essendon, Collingwood and Port by emerging victorious in all of them, but were found wanting against North Melbourne last week. They are proving to be honest opposition.
Geelong lowered their colours for the first time since Round 2 v GWS, a run of six consecutive wins washed away in the first term against Collingwood last week, going goalless and conceding seven. They did win the last three quarters though, so their overall performance was better than will be remembered.
Geelong lead 8-2 in the last ten meetings between the sides, but have won seven in a row going back to 2010. Five of the last six matches between the two have been decided by 16 points or less.
Since the start of 2014, Carlton are 65% ATS at Etihad, while Geelong are 38% ATS at the venue over the same time. The Cats have started $1.30 or less at Etihad six times in the last five years, only covering the spread once in those matches.
Geelong, like most of the eventual finalists this season, are going to look very good when winning, but throw up the odd poor performance unexpectedly. The key will be how those sides bounce back, and ensuring they don’t lose two in a row, especially to inferior opposition.
The Blues may actually match the Cats midfield given they have players whose best football isn’t far removed from what Dangerfield and Selwood can produce, but their defence will struggle to stop Geelong from kicking a big scores. The Cats backline is usually hard to penetrate, and should be doubly so this week after their first quarter lapse last week.
