The Port Adelaide Power kept their season alive with a hard fought win over Essendon whilst the Saints beat a terribly disappointing Melbourne outfit.
The Saints will be without Nick Riewoldt, Sam Gilbert and Jack Lonie. Young trio Tim Membrey, Blake Acres and Seb Ross are in contention to take their spots. Jack Billings is the only best 22 member on the injury list. For Port, Jaspar Pittard, Tom Jonas, Sam Gray and Kane Mitchell are all close to getting a call up with Jared Polec and Alipate Carlile both on the injury list.
Port Adelaide is 12th on the ladder with seven wins and nine losses, two games outside of the finals race. They rank sixth for scoring and 11th for most points conceded this season. The Saints are 13th on the ladder with six wins and 10 losses this year having won two of their last four games. They rank 12th for scoring and 14th for most points conceded this season. St Kilda is 5-4 (6-3 against the line) vs bottom ten teams this season.
Port Adelaide and St Kilda have met 25 times with Port holding a 15-10 advantage. Since 2010, Port is 4-2 against the line vs St Kilda. Port Adelaide has won 15 of their 22 games (14-9 against the line) at the Adelaide Oval. St Kilda is only 3-15 (7-11 against the line) outside of Melbourne since the start of 2013. The Saints are 1-8 (3-6 against the line) following a win in the last two seasons and 0-3 (0-3 ATL) at the Adelaide Oval. Three of the past five match-ups have totalled over 187-points.
The Power have been up and down like a yo-yo this year and though they have lost four of their last six, The Wolf thinks they can take it to St Kilda. After a win over the Dees, the Saints will be full of confidence but The Wolf thinks Port Adelaide’s run and carry will be far too much for them to handle. Couple that with a forward line missing inspirational leader Nick Riewoldt and Port needing to boost their percentage to maintain an outside finals chance, the Power should run away with this one.
