AFL 2014 Live Geelong Cats vs Fremantle Dockers match will be kick off at Simonds Stadium, Geelong,Saturday 09 August 2014 online, Time 19:40 AEDT and its broadcast on Fox Footy.
The Cats will most likely be without Steve Johnson (suspended – pending tribunal) but other than that they’re practically full strength. Hamish McIntosh performed well against Sandilands last time and could return whilst Mitch Brown, Billie Smedts and Jed Bews are also in the mix. For the Dockers, small forward Michael Walters could be ready to return but doubt remains for Tendai Mzungu (hamstring) and Matthew Pavlich was concussed for the second game in a row.
Geelong is sitting third on the ladder (equal first separated by percentage) with a 14-4 record having won their last five games. The Cats have a 5-2 record (4-3 against the line) vs fellow top-eight sides in 2014. Fremantle rank sixth in points per game and have the best defence conceding only 68 points per game this year. They’ve won nine of their last ten games to sit fourth on the ladder. The Dockers are 3-4 both head-to-head and against the line vs top-eight sides this year.
Fremantle was far too strong for Geelong in round 9 this year with David Mundy (34 possessions) and Stephen Hill (29p) doing the damage in the midfield. Nat Fyfe had 25 touches and kicked a goal. Matthew Pavlich and Hayden Ballantyne kicked three goals each in the 32-point victory. The Cats were down by five goals at quarter-time and could never get it back. Tom Hawkins kicked three whilst Joel Selwood amassed 35 touches, eight marks and seven tackles.
