AFL Live Gold Coast Suns vs Adelaide Crows Stream AFL Football 2015 Online, AFL Round 06 Match will be kick off at Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast, Carrara, Queensland, Australia Saturday 09 May 2015 online, 17.10pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Despite winning their first game for the season last weekend, it would not be a stretch to say the Suns are in turmoil. They will have about 25 fit players to choose from this weekend and against an Adelaide side looking to bounce back from a Showdown loss, that proposition looks dicey at best.
The Suns will be without Harley Bennell, Brandon Matera and Trent McKenzie after they were issued suspensions by the club with Steven May out for three weeks with an AFL suspension (that The Wolf did not agree with). They join Ablett, Malceski, Martin, Swallow, Tape and Garlett in the stands. Andrew Raines (club debut), Mitch Hallahan, Luke Russell, Aaron Hall and Danny Stanley could all return. The Crows could promote youngster Jake Lever for his first game with Rory Sloane and Ricky Henderson both in doubt. Sam Kerridge, Mitch Grigg and Matt Crouch are also in the mix.
The Crows have lost two on the trot, which they only did twice in 2014 (start of the year and Round 21-22), thanks to Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs. They’re seventh on the ladder and rank second in kicks and fifth in points per game with a game plan build on a full ground, 18-man press that aims to suffocate its opposition and severely restrict the amount of forward 50 entries. This ploy was no doubt thought up to help their young and often under-sized defenders. The Suns are 15th on the ladder with only one win over Brisbane. They rank second in contested possessions and clearances per game but 16th in effective disposals.
Taylor Walker v Rory Thompson – the Suns will be sweating on the fitness of their key defender – listed as test with a hip injury (LINK). The big Texan has kicked 14 goals in three career matches against the Suns. He kicked 2.2 against Port and should be primed to feast on the understrength Suns outfit.
Adelaide are undefeated in six matches against the Suns with an average winning margin of 61.2-points. The Crows are 6-0 against the line vs Gold Coast too. Gold Coast is 14-10 (15-9 at the line) at Metricon Stadium in the last three seasons – 8-5 (9-4 against the line) in 2014-15. There are only six sides the Suns are winless against in the competition but Adelaide is the only team Gold Coast has never covered the line against. Adelaide is 11-11 (12-10 against the line) when playing away from Adelaide in the last three seasons. When these two teams have met, the minimum amount of possessions that the highest disposals winner has racked up is 36 – with other totals being 37 (Swallow), 42 (Prestia), 36 (Dangerfield), 42 (Ablett), 51 (Scott Thompson) and 41 (Ablett). The six Crows-Giants games have all finished with a total game score of over 185-points. Whilst the average total game score in all Gold Coast games at Metricon stadium is 179-points.
Extreme confidence about the Crows. Before the suspensions announced early in the week the line was -18.5 but with Gold Coast’s list decimated and an Adelaide side that is poised to strike back after consecutive losses, a demolition job could be on the cards. As mentioned above, Adelaide absolutely dominates against the Suns and there is no reason to think that they will not come out strong against this under-strength outfit.
