AFL Live Gold Coast Suns vs West Coast Eagles Stream AFL Football 2015 Online, AFL Round 18 Match will be kick off at Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia Saturday 01 August 2015 online, 19.20 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Despite their key defenders being decimated by injury, the Eagles are very well placed to notch their seventh straight win against a Gold Coast side that is limping towards the finish line.
Gary Ablett is out for the rest of the season after injuring his knee against Adelaide last weekend. Jarrod Harbrow, Tom Nicholls and youngsters Jack Martin and Adam Saad are all lining up to be selected. They will be without their four best midfielders (Ablett, David Swallow, Dion Prestia and Jaeger O’Meara). For the Eagles, Will Schofield must pass a fitness test on his calf. If he misses then Sam Butler, Jackson Nelson, Patrick McGinnity and Murray Newman could come in.
The Eagles are second on the ladder with 13 wins and three losses this year having won six in a row by an average of 44-points. They rank second in scoring and second in defence this season. They are 9-0 both head to head and against the line vs bottom-ten sides this season. Gold Coast is 17th on the ladder with two wins and 14 losses. They rank 15th in scoring and 16th in defence. They are 0-8 (3-5 against the line) vs top eight teams this year
West Coast have won all six games (4-2 against the line) against Gold Coast by an average of 51-points. The Suns are 2-20 (7-15 against the line) without Gary Ablett in the side. Gold Coast is 15-15 (18-12 at the line) at Metricon Stadium in the last three seasons – 9-10 (12-7 against the line) in 2014-15. The Eagles are 10-8 (11-7 against the line) when playing away from Perth in 2014-15. West Coast forward Josh Kennedy has kicked 28 goals in five matches against the Suns. Four of the last five Eagles-Suns games have totalled over 202 points. Before the start of this round, teams were 9-0 (3-6 against the line) when favoured by 40-points or more this season. The Eagles are a league leading 13-3 against the line this season whilst the Suns are an equal league worst 5-11. Andrew Gaff is averaging over 32 disposals in his last nine games. The Eagles have not won seven games in a row since round 24, 2011.
The Eagles are absolutely rolling right now and it’s hard to envisage Gold Coast putting up too much of a fight. Their upswing in form coincided with Gary Ablett’s return and now they’ll be without Ablett again and The Wolf expects the wheels to fall off again too. The Eagles put a warning shot through the competition with their dismantling of Sydney, Collingwood and Adelaide in the last three weeks with their forward line really gelling. Wather permitting, the overs looks a great play with Charlie Dixon and Tom Lynch matching up well against West Coast’s under-sized backline and the Eagles’ ability to kick big scores.
