AFL Live GWS Giants vs Collingwood Magpies Stream AFL 2017 Regular Seasons Round 08 match will be kick off at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales, Australia, Saturday 13 May 2017 online, 16:35 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Saturday AFL action sees the GWS Giants play host to Collingwood at Spotless Stadium and the Round 8 clash shapes as a pivotal one for both sides.
The 2nd placed Giants will be out to secure a vital four points in order to consolidate their prospects, while the Magpies will be aiming to keep their finals hopes alive after slumping to a 2-5 win-loss record.
First bounce is at 4.35PM and the game can be seen on Fox Footy. AFL Live Vision is also available to ALL CrownBet members. Every Match, wherever you are.
Both sides dropped their Round 7 encounters. GWS went down to St Kilda by 23 points last Friday night, while a disappointing Collingwood lost by the same margin to Carlton a day later at the MCG.
However, the Giants are much better poised at this stage of the year, having won five of their seven games and they head in as strong favourites for this. They are $1.25 in the early head-to-head betting with CrownBet.
Leon Cameron’s side return to Spotless Stadium for their second game at the venue this year after defeating the Gold Coast by 102 points back in Round 2.
The Sydney based side can be pretty lethal at the venue but Pies fans will be buoyed by the fact that their side won the last time they ventured there.
The inconsistent Magpies can match the Giants host of midfield stars and have accumulated more disposals than their opposition this year, but GWS are the better clearance side.
A major problem for Nathan Buckley’s team is their use of the football. While they are winning plenty of the ball, their delivery has been poor to their forwards. They won the inside 50 count last weekend but could only manage 16 scoring shots.
Unless they can find the right chemistry between their midfielders and the forward line they will slump to 2-6 and the heat will further intensify on Buckley.
Key players for the Pies include the former Giant, Adam Treloar, as well as Scott Pendlebury, Jamie Elliot and Alex Fasolo. For the Giants, look for Callan Ward, Tom Scully and Dylan Shiel to have big games, while Jeremy Cameron and Jonathan Patton will be focal points up forward.
The latter pair were relatively quiet last weekend but were prominent a fortnight ago against the Western Bulldogs, combining for seven goals.
Another key battle will be in the ruck between Shane Mumford and Brodie Grundy. Both feature in the top 5 for hitouts this year.
