AFL Live Melbourne Demons vs St Kilda Saints Stream AFL Football 2016 Online, AFL Round 05 Match will be kick off at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria , Australia, Saturday 30 April 2016 online, 13.45 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
The Demons are on fire, but the Saints have proven their nemesis over many years.
Melbourne bring in pick two from the 2014 draft, Christian Petracca, for his debut, and making way is pick three from that same draft, Angus Brayshaw.
St Kilda has made three changes, resting Paddy McCartin and dropping Jack Lonie and Tom Lee. In come running youngsters Jade Gresham and Blake Acres, plus a marking forward in Tim Membrey.
Melbourne have won two in a row for the first time since 2011, and are now aiming for three, which would be a first since 2010 – five coaches ago including interims. The Dee’s are in form off the back of attacking flair, averaging 121 points a game over the last three weeks.
St Kilda are the best performed of the five sides sitting 1-4 on the ladder, with their losses having come to teams that had them beaten for class rather than grit. They get their chance once more against a team somewhere around their level.
Fear the beard… Max Gawn has averaged the most Fantasy points over the last three weeks than another other player in the game (122pts). At $5.50, he’s great odds and only up against Tom Hickey from the Saints. Jack Viney is like an angry pitbull and has been racking up possessions. He has had 31 and 37 in his last two games and even had 31 on the Saints last year. He is paying $5 to take out the main group.
St Kilda has won the last 12 matches between the sides. The last time Melbourne beat the Saints was the 2006 elimination final – the last time the Dee’s won a final, and the last time they made the finals.
Melbourne has one win from their last ten matches at Etihad, for -77% POT and 40% ATS. St Kilda only has six wins from 25 matches at Etihad under Alan Richardson, but are 21% POT.
Melbourne has started $2 or less 14 times since 2012, for five wins and -52% POT, and 29% ATS.
An intriguing match-up between two clubs that should be using each other as a marker as they both rise up the ladder.
The Demons got rid of their Etihad curse late last year, finally won two in a row for the first time in five years last week, and now they get to throw another monkey off their back in the form of the Saints.
Melbourne looks a lot more solid across the ground than their opposition, with a forward-line working smoothly and possessing multiple options. Each midfield bats to a similar depth, so if the Demons can match the Saints for pressure, they should be too good.
