AFL Live St Kilda Saints vs Collingwood Magpies Stream AFL Football 2016 Online, AFL Round 03 Match will be kick off at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Saturday 09 April 2016 online, 01.45 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
St Kilda are yet to put a win on the board, while Collingwood banked their first lot of four points with seconds to spare last week.
St Kilda has only made one change, dropping youngster Jade Gresham back to the VFL to find more of the footy. They bring in small forward Darren Minchington, who has played 10 games in three seasons.
Collingwood has dropped three players, even though they’re coming off a win. Corey Gault, Jack Frost and Brent Macaffer have been offering nothing. Jeremy Howe suits up in black and white for the first time, and is joined by the experience of Tyson Goldsack, the skill of Brayden Maynard, and Matthew Goodyear in for his AFL debut.
St Kilda played well for three quarters in Round 1, but faded in the final term against Port. They were outclassed and outmatched in Round 2, but won’t be the last team thrashed by the Western Bulldogs at Etihad this year. Their skills are letting them down under pressure.
Collingwood are yet to play well in their first two matches, humiliating themselves with lack of intensity in Round 1, and embarrassing themselves with lack of skill in Round 2. They were fortunate that an incompetent Richmond handed them victory in the final minutes and seconds of that latter game.
St Kilda hasn’t beaten Collingwood since April 9th, 2010, a full six years to the day when they meet on Saturday. The Pies have compiled an 8-0 record since then, with a drawn grand final thrown in on top.
The Pies leading possession getters for individual games over the last five encounters were Dane Swan, Dayne Beams, Dale Thomas, Steele Sidebottom/Dayne Beams and Leon Davis – none of whom will be there this time.
Travis Cloke may only have one goal from two matches so far this season, but he has 14 from his last three games against the Saints, including two bags of five.
I only want to talk about one man with three syllables, Jack Stev-en! He is paying ($3.75) to lead all possessions in his group, so lock that in to start with. Steven is a ball magnet averaging 33 touches a game so far this year. He had 32 on the Pies last year and will get over 30+ once again paying $2. Cotchin (38), Ellis (30), Martin (30) and Grigg (30) all achieved the mark last week against Collingwood and Steven will do it without breaking a sweat. He’s also $3.25 to lead all Fantasy scorers and even had 138pts on the Pies last year, a team who is currently given up the most 100+ scores in the Fantasy game. Get excited for the all-out “Jack Attack”.
Neither side has played particularly good football so far this season, and both sides have been let down by a lack of polish and skill.
Collingwood are struggling to get the run and flow into their game that we saw in the NAB Challenge. St Kilda is renowned for their pressure skills under Alan Richardson, and they can be expected to harass the Pies and force them into error.
Simply put, Collingwood aren’t playing well enough to be $1.45 favourites against anyone, and if the Saints can bring their best football, forcing turnovers and scoring goals on the rebound as they did against Port, they can get the job done.
