AFL Live Sydney Swans vs Port Adelaide Power Stream AFL Football 2015 Online, AFL Round 14 Match will be kick off at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney, NSW, Australia Thursday 02 July 2015 online, 19.20pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
The Sydney Swans look to bounce back from their upset loss to Richmond without key forwards Franklin and Tippett, coming up against a Port side determined to push into the eight in the second half of the year.
The Swans will need to find replacements for Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett who are both suspended for a week. Mike Pyke should return whilst Dean Towers and Brandon Jack have put their hand up via strong performances in the NEAFL. The suspended duo join Ben McGlynn and Isaac Heeney absent from the best 22. Port Adelaide should welcome back Paddy Ryder from an injury absence whilst Paul Stewart, Tom Logan, Sam Gray and Karl Amon are pushing to return after impressing in the SANFL. Jackson Trengove will have to pass a fitness test on his injured ankle.
The Swans are third on the ladder with a 9-3 record after losing to Richmond last weekend. They rank sixth in points for and second for the least amount of points conceded this season. They are 8-0 (4-4 against the line) vs bottom eight teams this season. One of the biggest disappointments of the year, Port is 12th on the ladder with a 5-7 record having lost three of their last five. They rank 12th for points for and ninth for points against in 2015. Port is 2-3 both head to head and against the line vs teams in the top eight this season
Sydney and Port have met 24 times with the Swans leading 18-7. Sydney has won eleven of their last 12 games against Port. Since 2010, the Swans are 6-1 (5-2 against the line) vs Port. The Swans are 9-5 (7-7 against the line) on Thursday/Friday nights in the last two seasons. Port is 1-2 (2-1 against the line) on Friday night’s under Ken Hinkley. Sydney is 7-4-1 (5-7 ATL) following a loss since the start of 2013. Port is 4-3 (3-4 against the line) when on a two-match losing streak under Hinkley. Sydney is 23-6-1 (17-13) against the line at the SCG since the start of 2012, including 9-3 (5-7 against the line) since last year. Port Adelaide has not won at the SCG since 2006, losing their last five matches at the ground. They are 3-10 at the SCG overall. They are 13-14 (13-14 against the line) when playing away from Adelaide under Hinkley. Port is 3-1 (3-1 against the line) following a bye/week off since the start of 2013. The Swans won their only game without Franklin and Tippett (Round 7. 2014 vs Brisbane 123-44). The Swans are 2-1 (1-2 against the line) in matches without Buddy Franklin whilst he’s been at the club averaging 89-points for in those three games. Three of their last four match-ups have totalled under 143-points. Five of the six outsiders covered the line in round 13.
It’s become pretty obvious how to stop Port Adelaide; deny them the corridor. Port love to filter their attacks through the corridor with high risk ball movement but as Sydney showed in round two, when Port are put under severe pressure, their game-plan can unravel. Without Tippett and Buddy, the Swans are likely to keep this very tight defensively and rely on their midfielders to chip in up forward. It is likely to be dewy again in Sydney on Thursday night which lends itself to a grind and The Wolf to back the unders.
