AFL Live Sydney Swans vs West Coast Eagles Stream AFL Football 2016 Online, AFL Round 05 Match will be kick off at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales , Australia, Saturday 23 April 2016 online, 13.45 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Sydney lost their first game of the year last week, while West Coast are coming off their most impressive performance.
Ruck/forward Callum Sinclair is an important in for Sydney, strengthening them at the expense of honest battler Toby Nankervis. George Hewett comes in for Dean Towers, reversing what happened at selection last week.
West Coast are indisputably stronger for bringing in a Brownlow medallist, Matt Priddis, and important utility Sharrod Wellingham for the omitted Mark Hutchings and Jackson Nelson. Fraser McInnes comes in for the suspended Mark Lycett.
Sydney had early wins over Collingwood and Carlton that didn’t mean a lot in terms of proving themselves a top side, then had to fight hard to defeat GWS and fell to Adelaide. They are not a standout side, but are certainly in the top four or six conversation.
West Coast beat up an already demoralized Richmond, to go with other Subiaco wins against Brisbane and Fremantle – three teams that only have two wins between them so far. The Eagles were extremely poor in their only match outside Perth so far, and have to prove themselves on the road.
The last five matches between these sides has been played in Perth, with Sydney winning four of them. The Swans have won eight of the last nine against the Eagles. They haven’t played against each other at the SCG since 2010.
Sydney have no pronounced advantage against the market at the SCG, only 51% ATS since 2012, but have won 10 of 12 there against travelling non-Victorian sides in this time, starting favourite in all but one of them.
West Coast have won 11 of 22 interstate matches under Adam Simpson, and hit the under 68% of the time in these circumstances.
After a poor performance last week, expect Tom Mitchell to bounce back on his home ground. He’s paying $3.50 to top the Fantasy points chart and has already scored 111 and 132 at the SCG this year. Whilst on the topic of Tom Mitchell, get on him to have the most handballs at $6. He won me this bet in rounds one and two with 18 and 19, and will be around that mark again at juicy odds. Finally, the Eagles are all the rave in the AFL at the moment but have actually had a good run of home games. Meeting the Swans at the SCG will be a different story. The Swans to lead at all the changes is great value at $3.25 and a bet I’ll be loading up on.
Vying for match of the round status with the Friday night game, this shapes as a key marker of each team’s season with a month of footy under the belt.
Sydney have struggled against the best sides in the comp in the last season and a half, and still have to prove they belong at the top end. West Coast arguably can’t prove anything of worth until they meet Hawthorn at the MCG again, given what happened on grand final day and again in Round 2, but they still have to cement themselves a top four spot if they want to be a premiership contender, and winning these sort of eight point games are a must.
The SCG should suit the defensive set-up of the Eagles, and they also have the forwards to trouble a Swans defence that can look shaky under pressure. If West Coast bring the ferocity they showed from the opening bounce last week, they’ll win.
