AFL Live West Coast Eagles vs Carlton Blues Stream AFL Football 2015 Online, match will be kick off at Patersons Stadium, Western Australia, Australia Friday 10 April 2015 online, 18.20pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Both sides go into round 2 looking for their first win of the season. The Blues were impressive early against Richmond before falling away after half-time whilst a poor final quarter cost the Eagles.
The Blues will have to find replacements for Dale Thomas (shoulder) and Kristian Jaksch (ribs) with Mark Whiley, Jason Tutt, Nick Graham and Blake Broadhurst likely to come into contention. Whilst West Coast will have to find a replacement for Mitch Brown (knee) with Will Schofield set to get the call up. Xavier Ellis, Jamie Bennell and Brant Colledge also putting their hand up to play with solid performances in the WAFL.
The Blues sit 16th on the ladder after going down to Richmond by 27-points in round 1. Carlton did win the first quarter – though — kicking 4.7. The Blues were quite inexperienced with eight players who had played under 50 games. The Eagles also lost their opening game – fading away in the final quarter to the Bulldogs.
Lachie Henderson and Liam Jones vs West Coast defence – The Eagles go into this match without Glass, Mackenzie or Brown for the first time since round 15, 2006. They will be relying on Jeremy McGovern and Will Schofield as their primary tall options down back. If Henderson and Jones get on top early, it could be a long night out for the Eagles defenders.
Carlton and West Coast have met 40 times with the Blues leading 21-19. West Coast has won three of the last five matches against Carlton (1-4 against the line). The Blues have won six of their last 10 in Perth – and since 2010 are 4-4 (7-1 against the line) at Subiaco. The Eagles were 6-5 both head-to-head and against the line at home in 2014. Carlton is 4-6 (3-7 against the line) when playing interstate under Mick Malthouse. Scott Selwood averages over 32 disposals against Carlton in his last two matches.
This one projects to be quite tight. The Blues will look to exploit their size advantage up forward whilst the Eagles will want to use their outside runners to test out Carlton’s midfield spread on the big Subiaco ground. Carlton really lacked any type of spark in the second half against Richmond but expect Murphy, Judd and Gibbs to step up in this one – their class and team-based defence should get them over the line.
