Saturday night AFL action sees the Western Bulldogs take on North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
The co-tenants of the venue have enjoyed contrasting seasons and the action gets underway at 7.25PM. Channel 7 and Fox Footy will broadcast the game.
The Western Bulldogs have won just four of 12 this season and after winning the 2016 Grand Final they are set to miss the September action for the second season in a row.
Last weekend, the Doggies were rolled by Port Adelaide by 57 points and that effort was their fourth loss on the trot. Those defeats have come at an average margin of 44 points and they have registered an average of just 52 points per game across that period.
Luke Beveridge’s side appear to lack the firepower to match motors with North Melbourne, who have fared much better in 2018. The Kangaroos have been the surprise packets. Many tipped them for the wooden spoon earlier in the year but they have won seven of 12 and sit in the top eight.
They come into this with fresh legs, having enjoyed the bye in Round 13. Prior to the break they went down to Geelong in Geelong by 37. They appear to have an advantage, particularly in the midfield against the injury ravaged Dogs.
Look for Shaun Higgins and Ben Cunnington to have an influence, while Todd Goldstein should get on top in the ruck.
Ben Brown is another key player for the Kangas and leads the competition for goals scored this season with 35 majors.
