Australian Football League Live Brisbane Lions vs St Kilda Saints Stream AFL 2015 Seasons Week 09 math will be kick off at Gabba Stadium, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Sunday 31 May 2015 online, 13.10pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
The St Kilda Saints and Lions meet with one team destined to notch their third win of the season and potentially jump out of the bottom four.
Both teams make changes with the Lions losing yet another key forward with Daniel McStay joining fellow big men Michael Close, Jonathan Freeman, Luke McGuane, Jackson Paine and Brent Staker out of the side. Sam Mayes, Jack Redden and Pearce Hanley are also missing. For the Saints, four members of their best 22 return with only Sam Fisher missing from its ideal team.
The Lions are 16th on the ladder having won two of their past three games with victories over Carlton and Port Adelaide before losing to Essendon last week. They rank 17th for points scored and 16th for most amount of points conceded. The Saints have lost their last two games by a combined total of 99 points but sit just above the Lions in 15th on the ladder. They are 12th in points scored and 15th in points conceded this season.
Brisbane and St Kilda have met on 27 occasions with the Lions leading 16-11 overall. The Saints have won four of the last six matches (but are 1-5 against the line) against Brisbane. The Lions are 4-11 (6-9 against the line) at home in 2014-15. St Kilda is only 2-14 (6-10 against the line) outside of Melbourne since the start of 2013. David Armitage has topped the Saints stat sheet in six of the eight games this year. Leigh Montagna has had the most disposals in four of his last six games against the Lions. Three of the last five games have totalled under 166 points.
As with most games between two bottom sides, it’s tough to be too confident about either result. The Saints have more of their best team out there but Brisbane midfield with Rockliff and Dayne Beams is formidable. At the end of the day, the strength of St Kilda’s forward line gives them the nod. Brisbane is relying on Matthew Leuenberger and probably Marco Paparone as key forwards and that does not instil too much confidence, it is with that reason why St Kilda at the start is the way to go.
