AFL Live Brisbane Lions vs Carlton Blues Streaming Free 2017 Regular Seasons Round 18 match will be kick off at Gabba, Brisbane, QLD, Australia, Sunday 23 July 2017 online, 16:40 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Brisbane sit in last position on the AFL ladder with just the three wins under their belt, while Carlton are two spots above the Lions in 16th, having won five times this season.
After a promising period just after the mid season bye, Carlton have since dropped their past four games and come off a 20 point loss to last year’s premiers, the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.
On the same weekend, Brisbane travelled to Etihad Stadium and were rolled by Richmond to the tune of 31 points. Their last win was against Essendon three weeks ago and they head to their home ground of the GABBA, where they have won just once this season.
Carlton have won one of their three interstate games this season and that performance came at the Gold Coast just over a month ago. They have generally been very competitive in their losses this year, unlike the Lions, who have conceded an avalanche of goals this season and are averaging 119 points against per game.
On the flipside, the Blues are the competition’s worst side for points scored and average just 70 points per game. They have not scored over 100 in any of their matches this year. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Levi Casboult, Charlie Curnow and Matthew Wright can help their side pass that elusive barrier.
The game will be won and lost in the midfield and the Blues will have to do it without Patrick Cripps, who will miss the remainder of the season with injury. Matthew Kreuzer and Bryce Gibbs are a couple of the key players for Carlton, while Tom Rockliff and Dayne Zorko will need to lift for the Lions in this area, after that duo produced quiet performances last weekend.
Brisbane’s Nick Robertson misses due to suspension, while Carlton have a number of players in doubt including Alex Silvagni, Dylan Buckley and Ciaran Byrne. Dale Thomas was a late withdrawal last weekend and could come back in for the Blues.
Brisbane have won four of the past five games against Carlton with three of those played at the GABBA.
The most recent clash between the two sides was in Round 21 last season and it was the Lions that held out a fast finishing Carlton to win by four points. Tom Rockliff and Dayne Zorko starred for the winners, while Levi Casboult booted four goals for Carlton.
