GWS Giants vs Port Adelaide Power game is poised to be a real arm wrestle. The conditions will be a significant leveller and the ever-improving GWS Giants have shown glimpses of the powerhouse side they can become this year.
There’s no reason to change a winning formula for Ken Hinkley, although Angus Monfries should force his way back into the side if he can overcoming a hamstring injury. The Giants could choose to add Mark Whiley, Dylan Shiel, Nathan Wilson and Stephen Gilham who all impressed in the reserves on the weekend.

Port Adelaide are on top of the ladder after their big win over Geelong on Sunday. Port have demonstrated their premiership credentials with five wins and a loss (to North Melbourne) through their first six games. After a bright start to the year, the Giants have lost three in a row – Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and Gold Coast and will be looking to get back on the winners list.
Port were too good in round 12 last year, restricting the Giants to just one goal in the first half whilst booting 12 themselves. They had 10 individual goal-kickers with Boak, Schulz and Monfries kicking three each. For the Giants, Tom Scully had 30 disposals whilst Jeremy Cameron kicked two.
Port Adelaide has beaten GWS in their first three matches (2-1 against the line), winning by an average of 55-points. Port rank second in points per game and third in kicks per game in 2014, whilst the Giants have made the second most tackles and hit-outs this season. Port Adelaide has never won in Canberra, losing three times to North Melbourne from 1998-2005. GWS won their very first game at Manuka Oval, but have lost their next five there. Jeremy Cameron has kicked eight goals in three games against Port.
