SUNS forward Peter Wright will lead Gold Coast’s attack against Essendon as he prepares to play his first game of 2017.
Wright has been named in an extended 29-man squad for Sunday’s game in Mackay alongside eight other players who are in line to feature in their first game of the year.
Midfielder Jack Martin Alex Sexton, Mitch Hallahan, Matt Shaw, Mackenzie Willis and rookies Keegan Brooksby, Ryan Davis and Darcy Macpherson are all hoping to make the final 26-man team to play the Bombers.
Wright will be the Suns focal point in the forward line as he tries to fill the big shoes left by Tom Lynch who will be rested while Sam Day is also out after injuring his hip last weekend.
Matt Rosa, Aaron Hall and draftee Jack Bowes will also be rested for the club’s second JLT Community Series game.
