AFL Live GWS Giants vs Melbourne Demons Stream AFL Football 2015 Online, match will be kick off at StarTrack Oval, Canberra, New South Wales, Australia Saturday 11 April 2015 online, 14.10pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
The Dees won their first round 1 game for 10-years against Gold Coast whilst the Giants just defeated St Kilda in their opening game.
Melbourne will welcome back key forward Chris Dawes (suspension) and Bernie Vince (hamstring) into a winning side with Jimmy Toumpas and Jay Kennedy-Harris the two most likely to make way. With the Giants winning, coach Leon Cameron is unlikely to make too many forced changes with Adam Kennedy, Nathan Wilson and Zac Williams knocking on the door for selection.
The Dees sit fourth on the ladder, the first time they have been inside the eight for many years. After round 1 they rank fourth in kicks per game and 15th in handballs, potentially showing a game-plan revolving around retaining possession by foot. They won the contested possessions 150 to 136 last weekend too. The Giants rank third in handballs, showing their desire to run and carry.
Jesse Hogan and Chris Dawes v Joel Patfull and Phil Davis – Expect Dawes to slot in as a centre-half forward who will roam far and wide to provide an option whilst Hogan should anchor deep. Patfull and Davis are solid key defenders but if Melbourne can get quick ball movement, Hogan and Dawes should give a great sight in one-on-one contests.
Melbourne is 3-3 overall against the Giants (2-4 at the line). The Giants have won the last three matches between the two sides by an average of 44 points. Melbourne is 4-17 (6-15 against the line) when travelling outside of Victoria since 2011. GWS is 187 (5-4 against the line) in Canberra. The Giants are 2-1 both head-to-head and against the line when starting as favourite in their short history. The Dees have not won successive games to open the season since 2005.
Don’t see any point looking past the new-look Dees outfit. Their seven newbies excelled against Gold Coast and their team will only get stronger with the inclusion of Dawes and Vince. The Giants midfielders haven’t yet learnt the art of two-way running so we can expect an open game with Melbourne at the start the way to play it.
