AFL 2014 Live North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Melbourne Demons match will be kick off at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne,Saturday 30 August 2014 online, Time 19:40 AEDT and its broadcast on Fox Footy.
North Melbourne are pretty much locked into sixth spot whilst the Dees could still finish last on the ladder if St Kilda can sneak a win over the Crows – which is unlikely!
North Melbourne coach Brad Scott has guaranteed that Lachie Hansen, Daniel Wells and Jamie Macmillan will all come into the side with Luke McDonald and Michael Firrito both flagged as those who could be rested. For the Dees, don’t expect too many changes from the 22 that lost to West Coast. Colin Garland will be out with a knee injury whilst Luke Tapscott and Jay Kennedy-Harris are also unavailable due to injury.
The Dees are currently in the midst of a nine game losing streak (which began, coincidentally with a loss to North) – five of which have been by over 50-points. They are 3-6 against the line during that nine game period. The Demons are 1-8 (5-4 against the line) vs top-eight sides this year. North have a 13-8 season record having won their past three games and five of their past seven! They are 9-4 both head to head and against the line vs bottom-ten teams this year.
It was a pretty uninspiring game the last time these two came together with North winning by 41-points. Despite being down by just 14-points at half-time, the Dees were never really in the hunt. After the main break, the Kangaroos kicked eight goals to four. Levi Greenwood starred for the Roos with 30 touches and two goals whilst Aaron Mullett and Lindsay Thomas also kicked multiple majors as they had 12 individual goal-kickers. For the Dees, Bernie Vince had a day to remember with 41 disposals and three goals whilst much maligned forward Chris Dawes chimed in with three of his own.
North currently hold a 12-game winning streak over the Dees. Melbourne last beat North in 2006 when Byron Pickett (playing for Melbourne) got the three Brownlow. The Roos have won their last four over the Demons by an average of 64-points. Melbourne has lost its past 19 games at Etihad Stadium – not having tasted victory there since August, 2007. North is 7-0 against Melbourne at the Dome. North Melbourne is 39-22 under Brad Scott at Etihad Stadium.
