Forget winning before next week’s bye, Port Adelaide needs to win this Saturday’s game against the Dockers to defend its lofty position on the ladder.
Fremantle defender Alex Silvagni is in the mix if Zac Dawson (ankle) or Luke McPharlin (leg) both are not fit. Key players Stephen Hill and Garrick Ibbotson could return from injury. For Port, Hamish Hartlett and Alipate Carlile are likely to return after being late withdrawals last week against the Giants. Doubt there will be any other unforced changes for either side.
After losing an uncharacteristic two in a row the Dockers arrested their form slump with a return to form against West Coast last weekend. They sit 6th on the ladder after seven games with a 4-3 record. Port are second on the ladder at 6-1 with their only loss coming against North Melbourne. All their wins have been easy.
Fremantle thumped Port in round 22 last season. The Dockers got the jump on Port, leading by 55 points at half-time. Both Matthew Pavlich and Michael Walters kicked four goals each whilst Ryan Crowley was able to limit Travis Boak to just 18 disposals and Jay Schulz only kicked one goal.
