Port Adelaide Power vs Adelaide Crows match will be kickoff at MCG Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Saturday 12 May 2018 online, 16:40 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

AFL Football Online 2018

The AFL’s two Adelaide based sides, Port Adelaide and the Adelaide Crows, meet in another edition of the ‘Showdown’ when they square off at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon, May 12.

The Round 8 encounter gets underway at 5.10PM AEST and can be seen live on Fox Footy. Adelaide head in as favourites for the game.

Adelaide head into this as favourites, courtesy of their superior recent form that has seen them win their past three. The Crows come off a commanding 55 point win over Carlton and currently sit in 3rd position on the AFL ladder.

Their cross-town rivals, Port, have dropped three of their past four and are currently 11th. They come off a 42 point defeat at the hands of West Coast. However, they are only one win behind Adelaide over the course of the year and if they bring their best form they can challenge.

Ken Hinkley’s side will need to improve at winning the contested possessions and the clearances. They were smashed in this aspect of the game last weekend but have generally been good in these measures.

Travis Boak and Robbie Gray have been solid but the likes of Paddy Ryder and Charlie Dixon will need to lift. Ryder comes up against Adelaide’s Sam Jacobs in the ruck. The big sauce ranks 3rd in the competition for average hitouts this year.

An interesting aspect of this game will be how the Crows forwards perform. Mitch McGovern and Josh Jenkins combined for eight goals last weekend, but as a whole, the Adelaide forward line has been slightly down on output compared to last year.

The Adelaide Crows take on Carlton at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday May 5, one of five games for the day and it is the Crows that will head in as raging favourites for the Round 7 clash.

The Blues are yet to notch up a win in season 2018 and come up against a Crows outfit that have won four of six. First bounce is at 7.40PM AEST and all the action can be seen on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

This shapes as a lopsided one with the struggling Blues coming up against last year’s Grand Finalists. Brendan Bolton’s side went down to the Western Bulldogs by 21 points last weekend and have now won just one of their past 16 matches.

Adelaide come off a comfortable 48 point win over the Gold Coast Suns and more looks in store for this round, however, the Crows can produce the odd shocker and there is some optimism for Blues fans.

Don Pyke’ side are managing plenty of injuries at the moment and went down to Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval in Round 4, while their other loss came against Essendon in Round 1.

If the Blues are to trouble the home side, they will need to find an answer to their continued goal kicking woes. They are averaging just 66 points per game and are last in the competition for points scored. They also rank last for points conceded and disposals per game.

Patrick Cripps has been one of the few shining lights for Carlton, while Marc Murphy is also enjoying a solid season. The former Blue, Bryce Gibbs looms as an important player for Adelaide, as do Tom Lynch and Josh Jenkins.

The latter two will need to fire, given that the Crows skipper is out of action again, this time with a hamstring injury.

Adelaide head in as firm favourites for this and have been installed as the $1.08 favourites with CrownBet in the head to head betting.

The Crows come off an excellent 10 point win over Sydney at the SCG and return to their home ground where they have some excellent form over the past couple of years, winning 12 from 15.

Despite their huge underdog status, the Gold Coast Suns have won the same amount of games as the Crows this year and sit below their opposition on the ladder due to an inferior percentage.

They scraped through with a five point win against Brisbane last weekend and their two losses have come at Perth Stadium this year, losing to the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle.

Touk Miller, David Swallow and the former Crow, Jarryd Lyons, loom as key players for the Suns. The latter two feature in the competition’s leading ball winners, while Miller was their best in the win over the Lions. Tom Lynch is another and has booted 14 goals this season.

At the other end of the ground, Taylor Walker and Josh Jenkins will look to continue their good form. That duo combined for seven goals last weekend and feature in the top 12 for goals scored. Rory Laird and Paul Seedsman are other important players and have been solid for the Crows in the absence of some key players in the middle of the ground.

Adelaide are unlikely to make too many changes after their big win last weekend but Kyle Hartigan will miss with a hamstring injury. Rory Sloane is a possible inclusion. Eddie Betts is still another week away.

Gold Coast lose Darcy MacPherson. Aaron Hall was dropped to the NEAFL last week but performed well and is expected to come back in.

Adelaide have never lost to the Gold Coast, taking out all 10 encounters between the two sides. Those wins have come at a massive average margin of 57 points. The closest the Suns have been to Adelaide was a 28 point margin in 2013.

Two of those clashes have been held at the Adelaide Oval. Last year the action was at the Gold Coast and it was the Crows by 67.

This is a slightly hard one to assess, given Adelaide’s injuries as well as their recent display at the Adelaide Oval when they went down to Collingwood. However, history may be a major pointer to this one and the Suns have generally been ordinary on the road in recent times.

AFL Live Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows Streaming Free 2018 Regular Seasons week 04 match will be kick off at SCG Stadium, Sydney, NSW, Australia, Friday 20 Apri 2018 online, 19:50 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

AFL Live Streaming

One of the big games of AFL Round 5 will be when the Sydney Swans take on the Adelaide Crows on Friday April 20 at the SCG.

The two sides featured prominently at the business end of 2017 and it is the Swans that head in as favourites after enjoying a superior start to 2018. Channel 7 and Fox Footy will broadcast the game.

Sydney have won three from four this year and stamped their class late in their Round 4 clash against the Western Bulldogs, taking out a thriller by seven points.

It has not all been smooth sailing for Adelaide, however. The Crows have battled to manage a combination of injuries and questionable form and sit with a win-loss record of 2-2. They were off their game last weekend when going down to Collingwood by 48 points and need to find a way to rebound.

Their coach, Don Pyke, will demand a lift in intensity and attack on the ball. If they fail to improve in this aspect of their game it could be a long night, as the Swans are renowned for their ability to win the contested footy, as well as the clearances.

Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Isaac Heeney are all in sparkling form for the Swans, as is their focal point up forward, Lance Franklin, who leads the competition for goals scored this year, with 17 majors.

At the other end of the ground the Crows will need more output from the likes of Taylor Walker and Josh Jenkins. That duo, as well as the currently injured Eddie Betts, combined for more than 150 goals last season, but have been inconsistent so far in 2018.

A lot will depend of the supply from further up the ground and with the continued absence of the Crouch brothers, the likes of Rory Sloane and Bryce Gibbs will need to produce something special against the Swans quality on-ball division.

AFL Live Streaming

Round 4 of the AFL home and away season gets underway when the Adelaide Crows take on Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval on Friday April 13 at 7.50PM AEST.

The Crows head in as firm favourites for the clash and all the action can be seen on 7mate and Fox Footy.

Adelaide have won two of their first three games this season and come off a 49 point win over St Kilda at Etihad Stadium last weekend. In their solitary game at the Adelaide Oval this year, they were 26 point victors over their conquerors from the Grand Final last year, Richmond.

Collingwood chalked up their first victory of the season in Round 3 by holding off a disappointing Carlton to the tune of 24 points. Prior to that they were rolled by GWS and Hawthorn but they have had some excuses due to the injury toll that has plagued their list. They are likely to regain a couple of players at selection.

Nathan Buckley’s side should be able to match Adelaide in some parts of the ground, particularly in the middle where the likes of Steele Sidebottom, Adam Treloar and Scott Pendlebury are finding plenty of it.

The Magpies rank 3rd for average disposals this year and are 6th for contested possessions. Adelaide are 1st and 4th in these measures. In the absence of the Crouch brothers, Rory Sloane and Rory Laird have been able to stand up, while Bryce Gibbs has been a very handy recruit, coming over from Carlton in the off-season.

The difference in this game is likely to be Adelaide’s superior attacking options up forward. Already the Crows are averaging 20 more points per game than the Magpies, who will need to stop Josh Jenkins, Taylor Walker and Eddie Betts.

What an intruding Round 3 matchup. St Kilda will be looking to bounce back after their horror loss on Good Friday against an injury-riddled Adelaide Crows at Etihad Stadium on Saturday Night.

With the Commonwealth Games on Channel 7, the action can be seen on 7mate or Fox Footy live from 7:00pm (AEST).

What a difference two weeks can make in football. Before the season started, this St Kilda v Adelaide matchup would’ve probably been considered as the match of the round, with heavy finals expectations placed on this Saints squad.

To show just how highly this match was rated, it was giving the free to air nod, ahead of the Sydney Derby, which has been pushed to Fox Footy.

The Saints ‘got away’ with a win in Round 1 against the Brisbane Lions, thanks in no small part to gun midfielder Jack Steven, who finished with a game-high 34 possessions and two goals.

The Saints were expected to score an easy win on Good Friday against North Melbourne. With only one match on Good Friday, there were plenty of eyeballs on the match. I’m comfortable saying the first half was the worst half of football I’ve ever watched. Only four goals were scored and many people watching, didn’t bother with the second half.

North Melbourne raised their level in the second half, while the Saints continued to make basic skill errors. Most disappointing for Alan Richardson, the Saints didn’t put any pressure on the Roos, in what was a dismal 52-point defeat.

The Adelaide Crows had a chip on their shoulder against Richmond in Round 2. The Crows were undermanned due to injury, but had something to prove after the happenings in September last year.

Rory Laird and Josh Jenkins were the stars for the Crows. Laird dominated, racking up 42 possessions. Much was made after Jenkins ‘went missing’ in the Grand Final. He bounced back well, booting five goals while Tex Walker kicked four in his first game back from injury.

Round 2 of the AFL home and away season opens up with what should be a cracking game between last year’s Grand Finalists, the Adelaide Crows and Richmond.

The Crows head in as favourites despite going down in the decider last year and the action gets underway at 7.20PM AEST at the Adelaide Oval.

Richmond kicked off their premiership defence with a 26-point win over Carlton in the season opener last weekend. The Tigers stamped their authority in the last term to kick clear against their younger opponents.

Adelaide come off a loss against Essendon at Etihad Stadium. The Crows led the Bombers by 20 points at three quarter time but conceded six of the last seven goals to go down.

Don Pyke’s side will be keen to rebound and a number of their big-name players had quiet games including Eddie Betts, who was held goalless. The mercurial forward booted 55 majors in 2017 and returns to Adelaide Oval for the first time this year.

A pleasing sign for the Crows was the debut performance of their new recruit, Bryce Gibbs. The former Blue picked up 35 disposals, while Rory Laird and Matt Crouch both picked up 40 possessions.

The battle between these players and the likes of Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin in the middle of the ground will be one of the highlights on Friday.

Last year’s Brownlow Medallist, Martin, tuned up with a 32 possession performance against the Blues, setting up the likes of Jack Riewoldt, Jacob Townsend and Josh Caddy, who combined for 11 goals.

The Tigers forward pressure that was a hallmark of their 2017 season was on display and the Crows will need to find a way to overcome this on Friday. If they don’t, they will find themselves in rare territory with a 0-2 win-loss record to kick off the season.

One of the big games of AFL Round 1 sees Essendon take on Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Friday March 23.

The Crows head in as slight favourites for the 7.50PM clash and the action can be seen on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Essendon head into the season on an upward trajectory after they improved to finish 7th last year, up from 18th in 2016. Adelaide will be one of the teams to beat and were runners-up last season but the home ground advantage for the Bombers may mean that this will be a close one.

The Dons were rusty early on in the JLT Series when they were annihilated to the tune of 87 points by Richmond but they rebounded with a four-point victory over Geelong in their most recent hitout.

Their opponents, Adelaide, defeated Fremantle in week 1 of the JLT by 10 points before going down to their cross-town rivals, Port Adelaide, by 26 points.

In this game, we can expect plenty of quick ball movement and a possible free-flowing encoutner that may lead to a shoot-out. Adelaide were the competition’s highest scoring side in 2017, while Essendon were 3rd.

The Crows have been working on improving their defence when turning the ball over but couldn’t quite get this right against the Power. It will be interesting to see what combination the Crows go for in the middle with Bryce Gibbs likely to start on the ball with Rory Sloane.

Essendon will rotate Zach Merrett, Dyson Heppell through the middle as well as their recruits in Devon Smith and Jake Stringer, while Joe Daniher will be a focal point up forward.

AFL JLT Series Live Port Adelaide Power vs Adelaide Crows Streaming Free 2018 AFL Pre Seasons match will be kick off at Alberton Oval, Alberton, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, Saturday 10 March 2018 online, 15:35 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

South Australia’s most important game on the footy calendar takes on extra significance for two of the premiership contenders. The 43rd edition of the Showdown promises to be a beauty, with the Crows and the Power coming off amazing results last weekend. The Crows showed tremendous fight to rally from 50 points down early in the third quarter to secure a draw against Collingwood at the MCG, while a bit of Patrick Ryder and Robbie Gray brilliance delivered the Power a thrilling two-point win over St Kilda. The top-of-the-table Crows will be slight favourites to win their fifth straight Showdown, but the fifth-placed Power need a victory to realistically keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive. This is one of those genuine ‘flip a coin’ games that will more than likely go down to the wire.

ROBBIE Gray is set to provide the revamped Match Review system with its first major test after an incident involving the Port Adelaide star.
Gray collected West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern high with a glancing shoulder bump late in the first quarter of their teams’ JLT Community Series pre-season clash at Leederville Oval in Perth.

McGovern went to the bench after the incident and did not return to the game at the start of the second quarter. Boundary rider Matthew Pavlich later told Fox Footy viewers that McGovern was done for the day.

“It’s a tough situation for a player. You’re running in attempting to win the ball – there’s certainly no malice there from Robbie Gray,” St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt said on Fox Footy’s coverage.

“That’s what the AFL has been working to stamp out, that head-high contact. And as soon as you make the choice to bump you open yourself up to potentially being rubbed out.”

But Hawthorn champion Jason Dunstall argued Gray was not intending to bump.

“The difficulty there is I don’t regard that particular incident as choosing to bump. To me, he’s attacking and at the last minute, he’s bracing because he’s not going to get to the ball first,” Dunstall said.

Riewoldt agreed, saying Gray had “no alternative”.

“If he puts his arms out, he’s gonna cop it straight in the face. It’s not a bump per se but as soon as you tuck that arm in, it’s a bumping action.”

Port Adelaide faces Fremantle at home to begin the AFL season, followed by games against Sydney and Brisbane.

Adelaide’s prized recruit Bryce Gibbs will play all preseason matches to hasten his assimilation into his new AFL club.

Gibbs, who departed Carlton at the end of last season, will debut for the Crows in Sunday’s preseason game against Fremantle in Strathalbyn in South Australia.

“It’s important for Bryce coming across to a slightly different style of play to get him used to playing with some of the guys,” Adelaide coach Don Pyke told reporters on Thursday.

The 231-gamer will also front for the Crows in their last preseason game, against Port Adelaide on March 10.

“He has hardly missed a beat through preseason … he has pretty much done the full training and he’s been really impressive,” Pyke said.

“There’s minor variations, I think, between the teams and how they play, probably the difference in language and terminology and some of the focus areas we have as compared to Carlton.

“But it’s probably more for him building the chemistry and the link with the other players.

“We have got some guys who have played a fair bit of footy together and he hasn’t, so the more opportunities he gets to play with guys that he’s going to be playing with come the home-and-away (season), the better.”

Injury-prone midfielders Hugh Greenwood and Brad Crouch won’t play on Sunday as they get managed through the preseason.

Utility Riley Knight (ankle) and Jordan Galluci (foot) will also be sidelined along with captain Taylor Walker, who will miss both preseason games with a foot injury.

Pyke said Walker has resumed running and remained on track to play in Adelaide’s premiership season opener on March 23.
