AFL Live Brisbane Lions vs Hawthorn Hawks Streaming Free 2018 Regular Seasons week 09 match will be kick off at The Gabba Stadium, Woolloongabba, Australia, Sunday 20 May 2018 online, 15:20 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

After squandering their Round 8 clash in the dying stages to Sydney, Hawthorn will be out to atone for that defeat when they travel to Brisbane to take on the Brisbane Lions on Sunday May 20.

The 3.20PM clash is one of three AFL games for the day and the action can be seen live on Channel 7 and Fox Sports.

Hawthorn have been the superior side thus far in 2018, winning five of eight, while the Brisbane Lions are yet to register a win.

The Hawks come off a narrow loss to the Sydney Swans in Round 8 in what was regarded as one of the games of the season, going down to the likely top four side by eight points.

Alistair Clarkson’s side will jump as favourites in this one but Brisbane will be no easybeats, despite their win-loss record and standing on the ladder.

The Lions are winless and in bottom spot but they have been competitive in a number of games this season and at their last appearance at the GABBA, they were narrow losers to Collingwood in what was a quality affair in Round 7. They have since gone down to the Western Bulldogs by 14 points at Etihad Stadium in Round 8.

An added dimension to this clash is that it will be the first appearance of the former Hawthorn hero, and three time premiership winning skipper, Luke Hodge, against his former side.

The two time Norm Smith Medalist transferred from the Hawks to the Lions at the end of 2017 and has added some much needed experience to the Brisbane Lions back half. In another connection between the two clubs, the current Brisbane coach, Chris Fagan, was a long standing lieutenant for the Hawks coach, Alistair Clarkson, during the Hawks dominant era from 2008 to 2015.

Hawthorn dominate Brisbane in a number of statistical measures. They rank higher at winning the contested possessions and clearances, while their forward line boasts two of the competition’s leading goal kickers in Luke Breust and Jack Gunston.

However, the Lions have a number of younger players that are showing some promise and with the likes of Dayne Zorko, Stefan Martin, Charlie Cameron and Mitch Robinson in the line up they are a chance in front of their home fans.

Round 8 of the AFL home and away season gets underway when the Hawthorn Hawks take on the Sydney Swans at the MCG on Friday May 11.

The two sides have played out some classics in recent times and this shapes as no exception. First bounce is at 7.50PM and all the action can be seen on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Hawthorn have enjoyed the superior start to the year, winning five of seven, while Sydney have won four of seven. However, with their backs against the wall, the Swans will be dangerous.

John Longmire’s side are still considered to be one of the teams to beat this year. While they unexpectedly dropped their Round 7 clash to North Melbourne by two points, they were brilliant prior to that, winning on the road against Geelong by 17.

Hawthorn come off a 23 point win over Essendon in Round 7 and have won four of their five games at the MCG this season. The former Swan, Tom Mitchell, continues to rack up a stack of numbers and leads the competition for average disposals at 36 per game. Jaegar O’Meara and James Sicily are other keys for the brown and gold.

Sydney will have to do it without their champion forward, Lance Franklin, who remains on the sidelines. Another former Hawk, Josh Kennedy, will need to continue his good form. He is one of the reasons why Sydney are the leading clearance team and can help give the Swans first use. However, the issue might be a lack of firepower up forward as they managed to boot just nine goals in the loss to the Kangas.

Another factor in this game may be the weather. Wet and wild conditions are forecast in Melbourne for Friday. The Swans are regarded as an excellent wet weather side, but Hawthorn relished in the slippery conditions earlier in the year in a win over Melbourne. Up to 80mm of rain is expected for parts of Melbourne.

AFL Footy Live Stream

Saturday afternoon football sees the old rivals, Essendon and Hawthorn, square off at the MCG at the traditional timeslot of 2.10PM.

The Hawks that have been posted as slight favourites in the head to head betting for the May 5 clash and all the action can be seen on Fox Sports.

Essendon have won just two of their six games this season and come off a 36 point loss to Melbourne last weekend. The Bombers haven’t quite lived up to their form from 2017 when they qualified to play finals and are languishing in 14th position on the ladder

Their opponents, Hawthorn, have fared better, winning four of six and in their Round 7 match they were too good for St Kilda, prevailing by 35. The Hawks are sitting pretty in 4th but are amongst a logjam of teams that are separated by just one game. A loss in this will see them back with the field.

Alistair Clarkson’s side can head in with some degree of confidence, given their standing on the ladder. They are 3rd in the competition for points per game, 4th for inside 50s and 5th for clearances.

Tom Mitchell continues to find plenty of the footy. The ball magnet is averaging 37 possessions per game, while Luke Breust sits 2nd on the goalkicking table with 19 majors after six weeks of footy. They are two players that the Bombers will need to stop.

John Worsfold’s side will need more from a host of players, including Joe Daniher, who was held goalless last weekend and they will need to avoid making the skill errors that plagued them in the second half against the Demons last weekend.

AFL Live Hawthorn Hawks vs St Kilda Saints Streaming Free 2018 Regular Seasons week 06 match will be kick off at University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston, TAS, Australia, Saturday 28 April 2018 online, 19:25 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

Hawthorn dropped their first four games of the year, including two by massive margin’s to Gold Coast and Geelong, before bouncing back in style with a 50 point win over West Coast at the MCG in Round 5.

St Kilda sit with a win-loss record of 2-3 and stuck with Geelong for three quarters last weekend, before being blown out of the water late in the game, going down by 38 points.

They venture down to Launceston to square their win-loss ledger and will need to make sure that they don’t give Hawthorn the freedom they enjoyed last weekend against the Eagles.

Saints coach, Alan Richardson, will explore ways to nullify the work of Hawk recruit, Tom Mitchell, who leads the competition for total disposals. The former Swan is averaging 34 touches per game. Richardson may look to Seb Ross to curb the influence of Mitchell.

Hawthorn will need a big game from not only Mitchell, but their premiership heroes as well, including the likes of Cyril Rioli, Jarryd Roughead and ruckman Ben McEvoy, who all lifted on previous performances to help steer the Hawks home last weekend.

McEvoy lines up against his former side, who have battled in the ruck this season and are ranked last for total hitouts. He will take on either Billy Longer or Tom Hickey in the middle.

Key players for St Kilda include Nick Riewoldt, Leigh Montagna and Jack Steven, while the Saints will need a lift from some of their younger players, including Luke Dunstan and Jade Gresham, who were both quiet in the loss to the Cats. Jake Carlisle is another that needs to lift. The former Bomber has been quiet in his games for his new club.

An interesting aspect of this game is the Hawks dominance at the venue. They have won their past 19 games at the venue, a sequence that stretches back to early 2012. St Kilda came close at a similar stage last year, going down by three points.

Hawthorn have a relatively healthy list of players to choose from and Jaegar O’Meara may return after experiencing knee soreness over the past fortnight. Ty Vickery, Jack Fitzpatrick and Jono O’Rourke have all impressed at VFL level and will be considered.

St Kilda’s Nick Riewoldt is expected to play despite hurting his ankle in the loss to Geelong. Jack Sinclair and Paddy McCartin could come in after playing well in the VFL.

Hawthorn have won the past six against St Kilda, including last year’s clash at this venue by three points.

The Saints have been on the receiving end of some thumping’s at the hands of Hawthorn and went down to the Hawks by 145 points in Round 7 of 2014.

AFL Football Live Free

The first game on Sunday afternoon sees North Melbourne take on the Hawks at Etihad Stadium, with both sides sitting inside the eight. The Kangaroos have surprised many footy fans with their performances this year, while Hawthorn just keep grinding away. It may not be one of the prettiest games you’ll ever see, but it will likely be a very absorbing clash.

North Melbourne (LWLW) – It is hard to believe but North Melbourne won by 86 points last round- 86! Throw in their 52 point win over the Saints and you have an average winning margin of 69- remarkable for a side many tipped to finish on the bottom of the ladder. Ben Brown has kicked 15 goals this season already, and is once again papering over the cracks of a side lacking any genuine match-winners in the midfield.

Hawthorn (WWLW) – Another side that many tipped to slide down the ladder, Hawthorn have been solid, if unspectacular, this season. Their only loss was a noble one to Richmond by 13 points, and in all the other games they have shown patches of returning to the Hawks of old. Tom Mitchell and Jaegar O’Meara have been the form midfield pairing of the comp, and the forward line has looked very dangerous- with Jarryd Roughead and Luke Breust standouts.

The Wolf thinks this game may be closer than many expect- with Rioli and Puopolo huge outs for the Hawks. The ‘Roos have been travelling well of late but the Hawks are a different story and should prove too good for a developing Kangaroos side. Wolfie is siding with the Hawks here.

AFL Live Stream

It is Sunday afternoon footy at the ‘G, with Hawthorn taking on Melbourne for what promises to be a blockbuster clash. Both sides are sitting 2-1 to start the season, although one might argue the quality of Hawthorn’s opponents has been much higher. Tom Mitchell continues to get leather poisoning, and he has been ably assisted by the (finally) fit again Jaeger O’Meara while the return of James Sicily should allow Jack Gunston to return to where he is most dangerous- in front of goal. For Melbourne, Jesse Hogan has been huge- with the power forward also rolling through the midfield; much like his talented teammate Christian Petracca, who is averaging 24 disposals and 1.7 goals a game.
You won’t want to miss this clash, where there is plenty of value to be found for the plucky punter.

Hawthorn (WWL) – After two strong wins to start the year, the Hawks were gallant in last round’s defeat to Richmond. They had the run of play for much of the game, and it was simply poor execution that let them down. Alistair Clarkson will certainly have something up his sleeve again for this one.

Melbourne (LWW) – If it wasn’t for Max Gawn’s horrendous shank in Round 1, the Demons would currently be sitting undefeated at the top of the ladder with Port Adelaide. They haven’t exactly lit the world on fire in their victories over Brisbane and North Melbourne, but the performances of Gawn and Jesse Hogan, in particular, will give supporters something to smile about.

The Wolf is expecting a tight contest for the whole game, with lead changes galore. The ruck battle between Gawn and McEvoy will be an absorbing one- and critical to the whole contest. If McEvoy can stretch Gawn (and the Wolf thinks he can), Hawthorn are better equipped to win a close one.

Richmond Tigers vs Hawthorn Hawks match will be kickoff at MCG Stadium, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Sunday 08 April 2018 online, 13:10 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.

One of the big games of AFL Round 3 will be when last years premiers, Richmond, take on Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday at 1.10PM.

The Tigers head in as slight favourites for the match and all the action can be seen live on Fox Footy.

Richmond come off a Round 2 loss at the hands of the Adelaide Crows, the side they beat in the Grand Final last season. The Tigers went down by 36 points at the Adelaide Oval and will be out to make amends for what was their first loss since early August in 2017.

They face a Hawthorn outfit that will be full of confidence after finally winning a close one against their modern-day rivals, Geelong. The Hawks let a 25-point lead slip late in the game but were good enough to sneak home by a solitary point. The victory made it two wins from as many games for Alistair Clarkson’s side.

A highlight of the game on Sunday will be the battle in the midfield. Hawthorn were able to match motors with Geelong’s star studded on-ball division last weekend and the likes of Tom Mitchell and Jaegar O’Meara will be out to do it again, this time against Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin and co.

Last year’s Brownlow Medalist, Martin, has started the year off in impressive fashion, however, it is Mitchell that has been capturing plenty of attention and the ball magnet has registered a staggering 94 disposals in the first two games this year.

Richmond will be mindful of curbing his influence, while they will also need to negate Hawthorn’s forwards as the premiers from 2013-2015 have been impressive in attack thus far. Jarryd Roughead was a match winner against Geelong and Richmond’s Alex Race will need to lift after having a rare off night in the loss to Adelaide.

Expect the Tigers to come out with plenty of intensity and their trademark forward half pressure should be on show. With Hawthorn in promising early form, this should be one of the better games of Round 3.

The modern-day rivals of the AFL, Geelong and Hawthorn, meet in the final game of Round 2 in the traditional Easter Monday clash at the MCG.

Both sides come off wins in Round 1 and the action gets underway at 3.20PM. Channel 7 and Fox Footy will broadcast the game.

Geelong have been posted as favourites in early markets and come off a thrilling win over Melbourne last weekend when the Demons big man, Max Gawn, missed a goal in the dying seconds to gift the Cats a three-point win.

Hawthorn enjoyed a slightly more comfortable victory by defeating Collingwood in their season opener by 34 points. Tom Mitchell was the star for the Hawks and picked up an AFL record of 54 possessions.

He was assisted in the midfield by Jaegar O’Meara, who was brilliant early on in the game and the battle between the Hawks on-ballers and Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, Gary Ablett and Joel Selwood shapes as a beauty.

Dangerfield missed the Cats win last weekend but Ablett and Selwood were brilliant. The Cats were also dangerous in their forward line and slammed on 12 goals in the first half, with Daniel Menzel booting four for the game.

The Cats have been very efficient inside their forward 50 and the Hawks defenders will need to be on the ball. James Sicily and James Frawley will both have key roles in that part of the ground for the brown and gold.

Expect these two sides to go helter-skelter early on and the team that can manage their weary legs late in the game will get up in what should be another tight contest at the MCG.

Hawthorn had a very interesting 2017, with their season being a tale of two halves. After falling to a horror start, the Hawks reshuffled their magnets and went back to the drawing board. What resulted was a shakeup of roles and a gradual adjustment of their gameplan. The young Hawks combined with the old to give them some respectable wins in the second half of the season, as the team showed promise and hope for the future. They will hope to start off with a win against injury-plagued Collingwood.

The Pies didn’t have the best of seasons either, and Nathan Buckley’s tenure was under continuous scrutiny. While these rumours were allayed somewhat with a contract extension, it would be deluded to think that the coaching seat at Collingwood is anything but red-hot. A combination of poor recruiting, indifferent form and injuries left the Pies out of the finals for the fourth consecutive time since 2013. They will hope to start 2018 on a positive note by beating the Hawks.

Hawthorn remains a slim chance of making another finals campaign, depending on several results falling its way. The Hawks are six points behind eighth-placed West Coast but firstly they must defeat Carlton on Saturday night. They have enjoyed a 14-game winning streak against the Blues, who last defeated them in round six, 2005. In Hawthorn’s first game at Etihad Stadium in 14 months, the ruck battle between All-Australian aspirants Matthew Kreuzer and Ben McEvoy should be enthralling, but Carlton lacks depth in the midfield and the Hawks have much more firepower up forward. While the gallant Blues played a more attacking style against the Eagles last Saturday, they struggle to score more than 80 points and will not find it any easier against a revitalised Hawks defence led by exciting youngsters James Sicily and Ryan Burton.

When these clubs last played in round 19 last season, it was a low-scoring affair from start to finish. Hawthorn led by six points at half-time (2.8 to 1.8) before finishing strongly with eight goals to six in the second half. Shaun Burgoyne was best on ground with 25 disposals and one goal.

Carlton remains the lowest-scoring side this season, averaging only 73 points a game and is yet to kick 100 points in a game. Hawthorn has averaged 84 points.

Neither team has been strong in the clearances this season. The Blues are ranked 16th with an average of 34.8, just ahead of the Hawks with an average of 34.1.

This will be the 10th contest between the clubs at Etihad Stadium with the Hawks winning seven games to two. The Blues have lost five of their past six games at the venue.

The teams’ recent form in the past few months has been contrasting. Carlton has lost its past eight games and Hawthorn has won five of their past eight and had a draw.

Veteran Shaun Burgoyne has enjoyed another fine season and remains the second-ranked small-medium defender in the Schick AFL Player Ratings with 491.1 points. Carlton’s Sam Docherty is ranked fifth in this category with 429.5 points.

IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR … Taylor Duryea
The 26-year-old has been reinvented as a forward since returning from a knee injury and has been one of the Hawks’ most consistent performers. The dual premiership player would love to celebrate the milestone of his 100th game with a victory on Saturday night.
