AFL Live Brisbane Lions vs GWS Giants Stream AFL 2017 Regular Seasons Round 14 match will be kick off at Gabba, Brisbane, QLD, Woolloongabba, Queensland, Australia, Saturday 24 June 2017 online, 16:35 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Brisbane remain last on the ladder with their 2-10 record and the worst defence in the AFL. Their attack ranks 15th. The Lions have been in reasonable form over the last fortnight with a big home win against Fremantle before a solid effort against Port Adelaide despite a final margin of 40 points. Three of Brisbane’s last four games at the Gabba were losses of 50-plus.
Greater Western Sydney are second on the ladder with a 9-3 record with rankings of five in attack and six in defence. The Giants went into the bye off a shock one-point loss to Carlton, a defeat that ended a four-game win streak that included three teams inside the Top 8. The Giants have been held under 100 points in five of their last seven outings.
GWS are raging favourite’s for this in the head to head betting with CrownBet and have been posted at $1.14, while Brisbane are at $5.75.
On face value, the Giants should be way too good. They have gun players on every line and way more depth than the Lions.
But funnier things have happened and we only need to look at the Giants most recent game when they went down to the then 17th placed Carlton. Since that performance, the Giants had the week off with the bye.
Brisbane endured a 40 point loss to Port Adelaide in Round 13, which wasn’t such a bad effort in the grand scheme of things. The Power have regularly smashed their interstate opposition and the performance from the Lions was certainly not their worst.
Chris Fagan’s side return to the GABBA, where they defeated Fremantle by 57 points in Round 12. Dayne Zorko has been one of the standouts for the Lions and will find plenty of the footy, while Fagan will also look for big contributions from Tom Rockliff and Dayne Beams. The latter duo was quiet against Port Adelaide but have generally been excellent this season.
The two sides have met on five occasions since GWS entered the league and it is the Giants with the advantage, having won three of those five, including two at the GABBA.
The most recent clash came in Round 17 of 2016 and it was the expansion club by 77 points. Josh Kelly and Callan Ward were the stars for the Giants, while Tom Rockliff was the Lions best
