Australian Football League Live Hawthorn Hawks vs Essendon Bombers Live Stream Free, AFL 2018 Regular Seasons Week 20 AFL Live Stream. Hawthorn Hawks vs Essendon Bombers match will be kickoff at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, Saturday 04 August 2018 online, 13:45 pm (AEDT) and its broadcast on Channel Seven, Foxtell.
Essendon have won just two of their six games this season and come off a 36 point loss to Melbourne last weekend. The Bombers haven’t quite lived up to their form from 2017 when they qualified to play finals and are languishing in 14th position on the ladder
Their opponents, Hawthorn, have fared better, winning four of six and in their Round 7 match they were too good for St Kilda, prevailing by 35. The Hawks are sitting pretty in 4th but are amongst a logjam of teams that are separated by just one game. A loss in this will see them back with the field.
Alistair Clarkson’s side can head in with some degree of confidence, given their standing on the ladder. They are 3rd in the competition for points per game, 4th for inside 50s and 5th for clearances.
Tom Mitchell continues to find plenty of the footy. The ball magnet is averaging 37 possessions per game, while Luke Breust sits 2nd on the goalkicking table with 19 majors after six weeks of footy. They are two players that the Bombers will need to stop.
John Worsfold’s side will need more from a host of players, including Joe Daniher, who was held goalless last weekend and they will need to avoid making the skill errors that plagued them in the second half against the Demons last weekend.
Essendon’s Orazio Fantasia is a chance to return and should bolster the Dons underperforming forward line. Conor McKenna, Tom Bellchambers and David Myers are other potential inclusions. Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is among a number of players in poor form and may face a spell in the VFL.
James Sicily and Liam Shiels are set to come back in for Hawthorn. James Worpel and James Cousins are two that could make way for that pair.
Essendon defeated Hawthorn the last time the two sides played with that clash occurring back in Round 1 last season. On that occasion, the Bombers triumphed by 25 points and it was Dyson Heppell and Zac Merrett that led the way, combining for 71 disposals. Tom Mitchell racked up 37 for Hawthorn.
Hawthorn have won seven of their past nine against Essendon but the Bombers have won two of the past three at the MCG against their old foes.
